Active Information Collection
Like many other web sites, we actively collect information from users of our Web Site both by asking specific questions through the comment submission, registration and other features of the Web Site and by permitting you to communicate directly with us via email. Some of the information that you submit during any comment submission, registration or other online process, may be personally identifiable (that is, information that can be uniquely identified with you, such as your name, business name, address, phone number, fax number, e-mail address, etc.) and may include other sensitive information, such as product information.
When you visit the Web Site, we will not collect any personally identifiable or other sensitive information from you unless you provide it to us voluntarily. If you choose to register, during the registration process you will be asked for certain information, most of which is required in order to complete the registration. We will inform you which information is optional.
Passive Information Collection
This site may also collect anonymous information from your computer through cookies and Internet tags. Most Internet browsers enable you to erase cookies from your computer hard drive, block all cookies, or receive a warning before a cookie is stored. However, certain features of this site might not work without cookies.
We passively collect information to understand what areas of the Web Site are most popular, which areas may require improvement and what technologies are being used by our visitors. This information helps us to update and improve the Web Site. We also use this information for security purposes, to detect and to block security breaches and to provide you with a safe online environment. Honeycomb does not collect personally identifiable information automatically, but we may tie information collected automatically to your previously submitted personally identifiable information.
2. HOW HONEYCOMB USES YOUR INFORMATION
Your contact information and product information will be used for the purposes for which you supplied it to us. If you direct comments to us or request information from us, we may ask you questions in an effort to tailor our response to your situation. We may also enhance or merge personally identifiable information with data obtained from third parties for the same purpose.
Honeycomb will not sell your personally identifiable information to any outside organization for the organization’s own use without your consent. Honeycomb may use third-party vendors to perform certain services on behalf of the site, such as hosting the site, designing and/or operating the site’s features, or analyzing users’ interaction with the site. These vendors are instructed not to use the information for any other purpose.
Honeycomb does not otherwise distribute to third parties your personally identifiable information. Honeycomb, however, will have no liability for disclosure of information obtained due to errors in transmission or the unauthorized intervention of third parties.
Honeycomb may provide aggregate statistics about our research participants and related information to reputable third parties, but these statistics will not include any personally identifying information. Honeycomb also will disclose any information that it is required to disclose by law or by an appropriate government authority.
3. HOW HONEYCOMB USES CLIENT AND RESEARCH PARTICIPANT INFORMATION
We treat all information we receive from clients as confidential and do not use the information for any purpose other than to fulfill our obligations to them. We keep client information secure at all times and prevent the misuse and unauthorized disclosure of it by our employees or any third parties.
Research Participants’ Information
In order to provide our services to clients, we may employ the use of client contact lists which would contain personal information such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, and mailing addresses. On studies involving European citizens or other individuals covered by the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), client contact lists or other personal data will only be processed in accordance with the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield.
Any client supplied, personally identifiable information is destroyed after its use. We never store client lists beyond their immediate use. Additionally, all responses to our research are completely confidential. We collect data in our studies for research purposes only, and our use of that information will be limited to that purpose. Research participant answers will not be used by any entity as an aid for sales.
Research participation is voluntary, and sample members always have the opportunity to decline involvement or to “opt out” of the research after agreeing to participate.
In order to provide our services to clients, we may request from research participants their personal information such as names, email address, phone number, or mailing address. In cases of video recorded research, the ability to record facial images could be requested. This collection of personal information from research participants is done solely through the legal basis of consent.
We do not rent, sell or give personal information to any third party for the purpose of directly marketing any products or services. In some cases, we may need to share personal information with third parties that provide research services in support of the research project. On those rare occasions, any third party engaged is obligated to follow all of the same privacy protection regulations as followed by Honeycomb.
